I think Kirkland Signature Chocolate Chunk Cookies from CostCo are probably my favorite cookies EVER! It's the right kind of soft and it lasts like that, it's not like it's only good when it first gets out of the oven. One cookie, however, is 210 calories. Probably 2/3 of the calories I burn when I do my Jane Fonda video. This makes me very sad. It's a good thing I don't make it to CostCo that often since apparently I have to spend at least $100 when I go there (~$230 when I went there with Murph last weekend). There is no such thing as a quick CostCo run.
I was looking at my LinkedIn profile today (because I like to Google myself, probably waaaaay too much). And realized that I've been working for 9 months, today. I'm not sure how to commemorate that, but it feels like an accomplishment. I wonder if it's because I'm a woman.
It truly amazes me how complicated I've made my financial life, that if I were to die, whoever is dealing with my stuff will have a difficult time figuring it out...unless you knew my passwords. Then it would be slightly better since most of it is compiled and recorded someplace.
I hate that WSJ has added Sports coverage...actually I just hate that they feel the need to deface the front page with this announcement, who cares if they added it or not?!
There are advantages to working in a French bank. 1)Things aren't melting down all over the place. I feel highly insulated from any "bad bank" fears. 2)A man was just walking past an office and said "Bonjour" to his French friend. And it made me think of the beginning of Beauty and the Beast. Then I briefly sang the song to myself as I pretended to be Belle.
I'm really looking forward to my car being paid off in June. Then the Title will be given solely to me (my mama is on it with me now) then I can have NY plates.
I know my hair would look better if I blow-dried it....but I haven't done that regularly in 5 years and am not about to start up again.
I'm not sure what my love languages are anymore. Haven't had to think about it in a long time. I think it's because I've been more specific as of late, and have not found the generalizations as useful as before. Is it possible to graduate from the basics?
Dave likes to call me "The Mayor" becomes I seem to know a lot of people. That's only because I've been on this project since the beginning. I think back to July when we were having meeting after meeting with these people, and I struggled to figure out who everyone was. ESPECIALLY, when they would be just some voice on a conference call. I realize now how important it was for me to follow John around those first few weeks. Now, someone will ask me where so-and-so sits and I can usually tell them or at least figure out who to ask. I like to know everything that's going on. It's a strength of mine to find the connections between things and I enjoy doing it.

Fear
Maybe you can tell, but I'm really starting to get writer's block on this thing. Much like any blogger, there are numerous points in my life when I think, Ooo this would be interesting to write about. But I've started putting this thing until the end of the day (unlike all the other times when I usually get on it or even keep it open for hours adding tidbits here and there), then all of the sudden I don't know what to say. Not that I'm not thinking about anything...in fact I think about A LOT. I think I've started to be overly critical of my content, too aware of the audience.
Here's a real thought. I've constantly come up to a fear at work that I'm not brilliant or creative enough to be here. I can be flexible enough rolling with the punches (you could almost describe my entire life up to this point as doing that), but I don't know if I've ever been the type of person who takes the lemons and makes 100 different kinds of lemonade. Really, it's being faced with the truth that I'm young and inexperienced and totally unable to see the larger picture, even when it matters. I add that clause because I think I've been operating under the assumption that if it really mattered, I would totally be able to do whatever I needed to do and see everything clearly and understand how everything works and do everything right. That's just not true, because I'm not perfect and my gifts are not perfect just because they're my gifts, my "strengths". It's perfectly possible for people's strengths to be sub-par, in fact everyone's is if you believe the Bible. That's a scary thought. It's scary because I rely a lot on what I can do, and not what Jesus does. My emotions and mood are caged in a prison of my own making. Unable to freely feel good, love, happy, joy. In general, I love having a huge capacity to feel deeply, but at times it really does make me feel like a freak when I can't separate it out of myself in order to function healthily. At least until I can sort it out in prayer.

Strength
1. Harmony
2. Empathy
3. Connectedness
4. Responsibility
5. Relator
I know I've written about this before. But I wanted to process this again given my new circumstances. These are my so called top 5 strengths according to the Strengthsfinder test (2.0!). Basically, the premise is there are certain skills that just come naturally to a person. Each of us does certain things really well without even thinking about it. I took this test through my mom (as I did with Myers-Briggs) who, if you don't already know, is an awesome, non-catty, career HR person (a rare breed indeed). So basically these researchers have identified 32 or so different strengths. I tried looking for the bona fide descriptions for my specific ones, but it's really self-explanatory. Harmony is looking for ways of compromise and generally not liking conflict. Empathy is being really inclined to feel for other people and being good at it (when I don't feel like connecting with somebody I just don't show this and shut it down, even though I really always see where the other person is coming from...though sometimes it is wise to refrain, that's pretty messed up of me, I agree). Connectedness is a tendency to think of things as part of a much larger and meaningful whole (people with this strength obviously would have a tendency to be religious/spiritual). Responsibility is taking ownership of what I do. Relator is having deep, meaningful relationships with those around me. Combining this info with my Myers-Briggs (ISFJ) it's interesting to see how really strong my Feeling is. I process so many things through my values and my emotions. Sometimes I think this is why my memory is so good, I remember the very smells and colors and touch of specifically emotional events in my life.

I started reading my Japanese textbook last night and I've been practicing my hiragana and katakana characters today. It's using a part of my brain I've been forgetting I have. I forget that I'm smart and capable sometimes. I've been sitting at work this past week, trying to think of ways to force output out of me since my work does not require so much. It's been spurred on by some rather substantial decorating I've been doing at home (we're painting tomorrow! it's really looking different already). But of course, these ideas of mine feel rather weak. I feel like a stay-at-home mom who's children have finally grown up and I'm just trying to occupy my time (granted this is similar, but not the same). It feels like a cop out in a way, trying to create an effort in myself so that I feel meaningful again. Shouldn't that be found in God and not in cross-stitching or any other hobby? But if it's the baby step I can do, it is the one I must do. Obviously, God didn't create me just to sit at my desk reading The Onion and fiddling with minor documents all day, and going home washing the dishes and organizing the recycling. And at least I'm looking for something to do with my blessed self, rather than reacting in apathy and depression (which, let's be honest, is the usual Xaris reaction when she doesn't get her way).
